My Mission:

I’m Evan Sky.  Welcome.

I’m beyond excited to be able to share my life’s purpose with all of you, and thrilled to have you along on this journey.

All my life, my dream has been to do something with music.  This dream has taken on many forms over the course of my life.  I’ve worn many many hats in the past, as a clarinetist, bassoonist, guitarist, bassist, drummer, vocalist, songwriter, producer, audio engineer, band member and band leader.  I truly believe that music has the power to change peoples lives for the better.  Most of my happiest moments involve being included in some kind of musical community.  In contrast, some of my loneliest moments are when I felt like I was not able to participate in such a community.  When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, I found myself isolated from my musical friends, writing songs by myself and spiritually in a very dark place.

My purpose was ripped out from under me.  I did not give up though, as I learned how to produce, record, market, manage social media, and many of the absurdly large number of skills we independent musicians have to learn each and every day.  Quickly overloaded with information, it became challenging to juggle working a day job, relationships, and everyday life with the pursuit of my passion and purpose in life.  I imagine this is a problem most musicians are quite familiar with.

The “Sky and the Clouds” Music Collective:

I am seeking to build a community of like minded musicians who understand the difficulties of working independently.  They must understand the financial constraints that artists face to even fulfill their most basic purpose of creating art.

Our purpose is to combat these struggles with teamwork.  By joining together all of our skills, I believe we can create amazing art and our collective purpose will be fulfilled as musicians with a desire to create.

  1. This is not going to be about money.  It’s for fun and for the sake of the art.  If you’re in this to make money you’re in it for the wrong reasons.  People can collaborate to promote releases and merchandise/monetize independently if they wish, but the purpose of this collective is to facilitate creativity and teamwork in a creative setting.

  2. This is not a political movement. We are here to make awesome art, and everyone’s art reflects their beliefs differently.  We are open to all kinds of people with differing perspectives.  Most importantly, we all accept each other’s perspectives.

  3. Shows are to be made as accessible as possible.  Preferably all ages shows. You don’t need to be straight edge to join, but in order to build a stronger community try to keep that stuff to your personal life.

  4. Participate.  There will be a Discord server dedicated to the music collective.  If you wish to join you must regularly participate in the movement.

Together, we can make amazing music and art and experience it as a community. I hope you will join me on this incredible journey.
